Enrico Druetto - Morej 2016

Region: Piedmont

Grape variety: Croatina and Barbera

Alcohol content: 15%.

Food Match: Red Meats, Game

Producer says:

"Morej", in Piedmontese, means dark/dark. This wine is the untamed expression of the Barbera grape and other ancient varieties in danger of extinction. Produced only in great vintages.

During refinement small lots (sometimes a single barrique) with exceptional characteristics are distinguished. I bottle them by hand separately and dedicate them to my father.

is the result of a very poor year from the point of view of production due to a late frost at the beginning of May. From the end of May to September the temperatures remained very high and the rainfall was very low for the entire growing season of the vines. The few grapes that arrived in September were of excellent quality and produced a particularly complex and structured wine, suitable for very long ageing. Evident on the nose are notes of dark fruit (blackberry, black plum, black cherry), tobacco, liquorice and tar. The mouth is full but extremely harmonious.
